Huw
Your sheets are from the Atlas of India, published by the East India Company
sheet-by-sheet 1:253,440 from 1824 to about 1910. If you like I'll send you
an index diagram. For more on the history of the Atlas, contact me off-list
or see Matthew Edney's article in Cartographica back in the early 1990s.
We're working here on establishing the dates of printing of sheets, and, in
the absence of dated revision notes on sheets, would appreciate knowing
watermark dates from others' copies.

Subject: John Walker maps of India
Dear All,
Can anybody give me an answer (or point me towards a source for one)
to the following.
I have half a dozen sheets of an unidentified atlas of India
published by John Walker between 1848-1865. Each sheet is roughly
60x80 cm, and has a number, the highest number is 115.
The earlier sheets (i.e. 1857 or before) describe Walker as
Geographer the East India Company, the later ones as Geographer to
the Secretary of State for India.
Could anybody identify this atlas, or suggest a book I can refer to.
Thanks,
Huw
