medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Colleagues,
I am looking for information on the following Italian monasteries and wonder
if any of you can be of help. The entry is from the Register of
Supplications and reads:
H. cardinalis Uticen. quatenus sibi in personam Nicolai de Maceriis, bac. in
theologia, mon. monast. s. Georgii, OSB, Cathaien. dioc., prioratu ss.
Felicis et Traquillini, basilice ducis, Placentin. dioc., OSB. etc.
I presume the first monastery (s. Georgii) is in Catania and the second is
in Piacenza; I have not been able to identify either of these houses (though
there is a monastery dedicated to Saint Mary and Saint George in Catania,
listed in Cottineau, which might be the former monastery).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thomas Sullivan, OSB
