DCMI regrets any scheduling problems that would preclude attendance by any
group for religious or other reasons. With a community as diverse as ours
(participants come from more than 50 countries), it is impossible to
anticipate all possible conflicts.
It is our policy when scheduling meetings to ask our Advisory Board for
possible conflicts with meetings and prominent holidays, and we do the best
we can to avoid such conflicts. In this particular case, we also had very
tight scheduling constraints with the selected venue.
We regret any difficulties our selected dates might cause prospective
attendees.

Subject: Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: DC2003 pre-conference workshops (Seattle, WA,
USA)
I am extremely dismayed to see that these workshops have been scheduled on
the same day as the Jewish New Year. This is very insensitive, and
precludes many who might want to attend from being able to come. I hope in
the future, the DCMI will be more considerate in choosing meeting dates.
