Many thanks to those of you who replied to my plea for help regarding being
able to run Learndirect courses from People's Network machines.
Just to clarify, no Luton Libraries are currently Learndirect
Centres/Access Points. We do work in partnership with an organisation which
is a Learndirect Access point, whose learners use our facilities for their
training. A few of these learners are keen to carry on with learning,
particularly at their local library.
Like many of you, the security policies and systems on our machines make it
difficult (or impossible in some cases!) for learners to be able to access
their CD-ROMs or their on-line learning course. However, the Fastload CD-ROM
should help for many of the on-line courses. There will be more of a battle
over the audio-streaming required for some of Basic Skills course, but I
hope to convince the IT department that it is a key part of e-gov.
