Library Assistant: Enquiry and Document Delivery Services
35 hours per week
Starting salary £15,386 + non-contributory pension scheme + benefits
The Royal Society of Medicine is a centre of excellence in post-graduate
multidisciplinary education. The Information Services department provides
library and IT services within the Society. We are one of the largest
postgraduate biomedical libraries in Europe providing a full range of
information services to the Society’s 18,000 Members worldwide, including a
significant number of Corporate Members in the healthcare industry.
The post may suit those seeking pre-library school experience. Duties
include working with busy medical professionals, answering enquiries and
providing photocopies. The post entails regular evening to 20.45
(currently once a month) and Saturday (currently one in every eight weeks)
duties.
You will need good written and spoken communication skills and enjoy
working as part of a team. You should be able to multitask whilst working
to deadlines and be methodical and attentive to detail. A good level of
numeracy is required along with the ability to accurately handle cash and
invoice transactions. You will need a flexible approach to work and the
ability to solve problems, along with an aptitude for using information
technology.
