It would appear from some replies that I am grossly underpaid. We are only
a small College but I have responsibility for all registrations, exams etc &
as you say just about every student does at least one! Some of ours do
several!

Does anyone mind telling me what 'the going rate' is, out of
interest?

I'm in the same position. I don't even get paid as an Exams Officer
- not
the usual going rate anyway & I too do just about everything with a
part-time assistant - 50 hrs between us. We also put the lottery on
each
week!!

Dear Cath Smith: I simply cannot understand the difference. I am
the
examinations officer for this college and I have two 'part-time -
term time
only' assistants. There is no senior examinations officer here,
quite
frankly the buck stops with me. I would love to know what the
senior post
entails that is anything different to what I do which in my opinion
is quite
frankly 'everything' and goodness only knows what this college will
do when
I win the lottery! Of course, I could appoint myself as 'senior'
and await
my pay rise! Annie Mathieson
