Well, the current Caesar at the time (est. 30 AD) would have been Tiberius Caesar... but I think you must be right; via the formal adoption that was part of becoming the next ruler of Rome, they were all "Caesars", even after the Julio-Claudian dynasty ended (with Nero) and a new family (the Flavians) took the stage. The point is, Jeses would have been aware of that. For any subject of the far-flung Empire, the distant "caesars" must have been much of a muchness.

I thought "render unto Caesar..." referred to any caesar, not
just Julius.
