This is a review of the ebb and flow of Catholic scholarship on the Markan priority (two-document hypothesis) and the two-gospel hypothesis (Matthew first, Mark second) from the early 1900s to the 1960s, with a thorough bibliography. It does not, however, address the Carmignac and Tresmontant hypostheses.
