I beleive to be a truely great cartographer you have to have gut
instinct as to what "works" in a map and which doesn't. This not
something you can teach, but something that can be learnt...to some
degree.
Definitely being Computer literate can be good in this era...But
expecting too much of the technology is dangerous!
An eye for detail also seems to be a crucial thing......Unless
you're Alan Collinson! Just kidding!
Spatial awareness neeeds to be well tuned, to be a
cartographer..otherwise, what are you doing in the profession?
