medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I wonder if the tradition of tourists bringing home souvenirs from the
places visited in modern times has any anthropological connection with
these Fourth or even Third Class relics. I refer especially to the
souvenir shops adjacent to churches in Rome and certainly other places
in which little things are sold with the appropriate inscription with
the name of the place and often a tiny photo of it inscrusted in them
(little spoons and other similar objects).
