medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
There is no evidence about Aelred's canonization. In 1476, the Cistercian
General Chapter authorized a celebration, but the feast of Aelred was
limited to the local church and cistercian order.
See Paul Grosjean, "La prétendue canonisation d'Aelred de Rievaulx par
Célestin III", in _Analecta Bollandiana_, 78 (1960), p. 124-129 and B.P.
