Dear all,
Can anyone help with a knotty problem?
For a trial, we wish to loan laptops to housebound users for Learning purposes
and Internet access.
Our objectives are, that:
For the user, Internet access should be free at the point of use.
For ourselves, we wish all costs to be fixed - ISP, line charges/data transfer,
and charged to us, not the user - so that we have a known liability.
In addition, if the connection is to run over the users land line, it should be
independent of line type e.g. BT or Cable, Analogue or Digital (ISDN, ADSL),
without any physical or billing changes.
We have looked at GPRS cards fot the laptops, but not made any progress, and
speeds seem slow.
As to 0800/0845 type solutions on land lines, we find that we can get an ISP at
a fixed rate, but most assume a BT line with billing changes for the user.
We *can* get a line-independent 0800 ISP at a fixed rate, but call charges are
prohibitive.
Can anyone advise, or are we flogging a dead horse?
All help gratefully received!
Regards
JU
