I feel we should be Dr, not Mr. It makes more sense
Being a female physician, I agree with this. I much prefer it to the title
"Mr." or Ms. or Mrs. for that matter.
For the same reason, I largely gave up calling myself 'Miss' a few years

I felt the same for about 6 weeks. The term Mr (or Miss) was initially a term of contempt alluding to the Barber Surgeons. However being pedantic we are not really entitled to be called Doctor. Most of us are only Bachelors with the MB BS and do not hold the MD or PhD Doctorates.
BTW when I worked in South Africa the term Mr (or Miss) tended to be used more in the English Speaking Hospitals as opposed to the Afrikans. The whole thing is a load of nonsense anyway.
