I think that Ylva makes a very good point, but I must say that it does
not always hold true. In medieval levels at Norwich, England we have
found complete cat skeletons with cut marks on skulls, metapodia AND
phalanges - this indicates that sometimes medieval people went through
the trouble of removing the phalanges from the skin.
