Hallo Ede
Just read your msg and assume you have had no other replies as yet? It
would take a book to answer all your queries below! I think there is
only one published which deals solely with mother of pearl and I am
contacting my colleague to get the title from her and will advise. I
also know of a book on the subject in prep. The literature on mother of
pearl is extensive in that there are snippets and chapters on the
subject in many conchological/malacological/seashell volumes and
articles in journals and periodicals such as the Conchologists'
Newsletter which spans 1961 to the present.
