[With apologies for cross posting. This info needs to go as wide as
possible]
The Scottish Regional Support Centres are pleased to announce the
release of the ETNA Report. ETNA is the 'Enhanced Training Needs
Analysis'. The ETNA survey ran in Scotland in the first half of May.
Thousands of individuals responded from every college of Further
Education in the country.
Key findings:
. ECDL is widely accepted as the de facto standard for
applications training.
. Lack of available time is cited as the key barrier to further
training uptake but....
. ....there is evidence of a strong desire for training and an
appreciation that the changing culture of colleges is likely to require
different skillsets.
. VLEs are *mostly* everywhere, but predominantly only in pilot
phase, and often still known about only in the circles of champions,
experts and techies.
. Assistive technologies have begun to make an impact in terms of
awareness raising, but there is still some way to go to turn this
awareness into practical application.
. ICT strategies sometimes remain only within the orbits of key
decision makers in colleges and further efforts may be required to
ensure their impact filters consistently out to all staff.

Scotland North & East at www.rsc-ne-scotland.ac.uk/home.html.
We hope that ETNA will be useful to training providers, and also, most
importantly, to training *receivers* as it will assist the construction
of staff development programmes which map closely to learners' needs. We
would be glad to receive any comments or feedback on ETNA.
Regards,
Sarah
