Hi All
Interesting distinctions becoming apparent between integrated VLE and MLE.
The only thing I would add to the debate that George has started is that I
would say he had an MLE if the whole thing was glued together with a
standards based approach. If the pieces he identifies are using standards
such as IMS, SCORM etc then I would agree that he has an MLE. If however
there are proprietry links here that are not 'open' or have to be created on
a one by one basis then this is an integrated VLE not an MLE.
As he is using Blackboard (and I assume other pieces that are integrated
with it using the standards based approach) then he does indeed have an
MLE.

Well, I think you must be getting pretty close to it. Sounds great, and
a
lot more than most colleges have done.
The JISC is carrying out a study of MLE activity in FE/HE to find the
extent of activity in the sector. The study is being done early in the
new
year, and will report in summer, and should be of interest to everyone
on
the list.
