Is this really "an acknowledgement" of something that is known? Or is
it an attempt at bit myth creation by the ONS?
My impression is that censuses have been abandoned in other countries only
when there has been confidence that an administrative system would produce
better results. This "acknowledgement" seems to be an attempt to
distract attention from the fact that the ONS has just achieved the lowest
response rate in British census history.
Could we have a list of countries that have abandoned censuses???
