Following the thread, I was just wondering how the "phenomena" (thanks
Lubomir for using such formulation) can be approached? As Lubomir points
out, an architect might work in planning etc...
As this is not an easy discussion, I personally would start from something
very concrete. If I took 20 objects, is there a way for me to distinguish is
these objects have been designed by a designer, or by an engineer? If yes,
can I articulate this/these difference/s. What then am I informed about?
And this is only one way of looking at it. Because we could also try to
analyze how these objects are "constituted" as elements of a technological
system through their diffusion and appropriation. Would the differences (if
any) confirm, for instance, that the notion of "usability" is better
understood by designers then by engineers. Because, ultimately, the
phenomenon of design or engineering is the apparition of "an object".
