Elaborate doors, stained glass, altar ornaments (?) at Ronchamp were also
designed by Le Corbusier. What did Matisse do?

Subject: Any online or distance Research Masters in Art and Design?
Hello,
I wondered if anyone knows of any online or distance Research Masters in Art
and Design. There used to be a course at Robert Gordon University in
Scotland 2 years ago, but they've cancelled it and I don't think I'm
qualified to apply directly to do an MPhil.
I'm living in China and I'm interested in researching Chinese taste.
If anyone has any links to research into design/consumerism/taste in China
I'd be very interested - so far, I've found very little.
Thanks.
Lizzy

Subject: Design Philosophy Papers
Phd Design students may be interested in a newly launched project with an
online journal - Design Philosophy Papers.
Design Philosophy Papers aims to develop and promote deeper, more
fundamental understandings of design. It will explore the idea of =91the
world as designed=92 ranging widely across the aesthetic and the technical,
architecture and products, images and information, and more.
The idea is to present adventurous thinking by people from design
disciplines and beyond. Issues 1 and 2 have contributions by Ezio Manzini,
Tony Fry, Karsten Harries, Augustine Berque and William McNeill.
We are seeking proposals for papers/essays on several themes that have been
identified for forthcoming issues (they are outlined in the editorial of
the current issue). This could be a good opportunity for PhD students to
try out new ideas. It is a refereed journal, and we are loking for lively,
engaged and rigorous writing.
You are invited to take a look - www.desphilosophy.com

Dear Colleagues,
A correction and a footnote.
The correction involves Le Corbusier. I was conflqting
two Corbusier structures. I am at the La Touette pirory
outside Lyons. The chapel here is the spare chapel
designed by Corbusier himself. The chapel decorated
by Matisse is in the church at Ronchamps.
There seems to be some confusion on whether I met
my own standards for referencing in a recent post.
The purpose of a reference is to permit any reader to examine
the information for himself on any issue of substance. I will add
a discussion of references and their uses in my theory notes
to alleviate any confusion there may be on this issue.
In this case, every reader of this list has complete access to
the entire series of exchanges on the JISCMAIL archive. I
provided the refererence. Just go to the JISCMAIL archive.
Each month contains all contributions posted in that month.
These can be organized by date, thread, or author. In this
case, all one needs to do is to click on author and read for
Rosan Chow.
It is also possible to use the superb JISCMAIL search engine to
find all contributions by any author all the way back to the
start of the list.
It is understood that when we can place a book
or article in someone's hands, the complete artifact will
not require further reference. In this case, all readers have
access to the complete information and a search engine to
use it effectively.
Now, back to the chapel.
Yours,
Ken
