it is rosan again, joining in the conversation with Pradeep, Marcella, Carmeron, Alan, Eva and
others on the subject.
Alan: I agree with you. but I am NOT suggesting multi disciplinary is not useful a concept or a
practice.I am saying that for the purpose of grounding design as a distinct discipline, it is not
sufficient.
to carry on with the baking lasagna metaphor:
multi disciplinary knowledge/methods/tools/perspectives are ingredients.
the oven is the institution.
the power is the finance.
i have experimented and made many mistakes when i made lasagna. but in my wildest dream, i have
never thought of making lasagna without a container, be it ceramic or metal or some new designed
substance; big or small; shallow or deep; oval or square. just imagine how messy it will get ...
my roommate will kill me.
a concept of design is a container.
to Eva: sorry that you have received a private mail from Ken. anyone who has got one before can
sympathize with you.
to Pradeep: i know i misspelled your name last time, but please don't call me a man.(smile,
wink). i am a woman, quite a cute one, i was told. and i am also asian. i hope disclosing these
details will not undermine my contribution thus far. smile.
best. rosan
