Subject: Please look at and subscribe to my new publication - The Acumen
Journal of Sciences
Dear friend:
I am writing to you to encourage you to read and subscribe to my new
publication, The Acumen Journal of Sciences. The mission of the Acumen
Journal is to explain the commercial, economic, and policy implications of
discoveries and innovations in the life sciences and health care. Our
readership are people like you-thoughtful citizens and senior strategic
decision makers affected by the life sciences, in medicine, and in
government.
I lured Jason Pontin from the Red Herring to be the editor-in-chief, and he
has assembled and delivered the best and only editorial product that
addresses the business, economics and policy of life sciences.
The publication is paid circulation, and we would be honored to have you as
a subscriber.
You can read about our Journal here: www.acumenjournal.com
<http://www.acumenjournal.com/>.
Our first issue, now available, has stories about the consequences of the
Administration's ban on the use of new stem cell lines; an explanation of
why the pharmaceutical industry produces so few new drugs and at such
expense; and a prescription for how to treat the AIDS pandemic in Africa.
Some of our contributing editors included Sherwin Nuland, the professor of
surgery at Yale, who writes regularly for The New Yorker; Freeman Dyson,
Professor Emeritus of Natural Science at Princeton; and Horace Freeland
Judson, who wrote the classic account of the discovery of the structure of
DNA, The Eighth Day of Creation. Other writers have written regularly for
The New York Times, for The Economist, as well as a host of scientific
journals.
Our second issue, which will be in the hands of subscribers shortly,
analyzes the coming crisis in healthcare, and proposes a remedy to America's
prescription drug policy; explains the new science of aging; and looks at
the new profession of bioethics-and asks, how did biothicists get so
powerful? You don't want to miss it.
We are very proud of our new publication. I urge you to visit our Web site
at www.acumenjournal.com <http://www.acumenjournal.com/> and subscribe or
ask for a free sample copy today. Or call my office, and we will have one
sent to you.
All the best in all things,
Eric
