The College for Creative Studies Detroit--a leading product and transport design school - will hold a three week Summer School Studio in London from July 6th through July 25th, 2003.
The school will be held in parallel with their regular graphics program in the Netherlands. The theme will explore the future of product design and the relationship of national and international design culture.
Ron Arad, from the Royal College of Art, Dick Powell, Tangerine, Radar and Central St Martins Product Design Department have agreed to be involved, and the school is in discussions with a number of other leading designers from companies including Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Nokia. The course will include visits to a number of London design studios and sites of interest to designers, including the New Tate and the Design Museum.
Accommodation is planned to booked at London School of Economics.
A three-day excursion to France and the Netherlands is planned--an opportunity to visit some interesting design sites and interact with the graphics group. The numbers of available places are limited to 15 to 20 students--including some working designers--and will be based on review of 10 examples of design work.
