In this case "heuristics" can be interpreted pretty broadly, as well as the
concept of metaphor that I envisage.
You have the right to require a definition, particularly when the discourse
is within an objectivist perspective (e.g. positivism). However, in some
situations it might be productive to go forward guided by contextual hints
and general background and to develop an understanding based on the overall
situation.
By the way, the vantage point that I have chosen is not new but I don't see
a problem with this. I was looking for an operational adequacy and
heuristic power and have reasons to believe that the proposed
conceptualization will help develop grounds for seeing the most important
relationships in the particular situation as well as for developing new
understanding.
I will also consider other conceptualizations that will serve better these
considerations and will be glad to hear other opinions.
