If by this Chuck refers to the core of understanding about what the act of
design consists of, then I would not hesitate in saying that by and large,
the design team here and the studios we work with, are unaware of this
'core'.
A consistent nagging concern, is that if the innate nature of design is
proven to be simply a natural skill, such as kicking a ball and not a field
of logic/ science then the notion of empirical study of that skill is
called in to question...
For me anyway... this concern refuses to go away.
If the core attempts to capture what this skill consists (or should) is for
someone considerably more learned than myself.
Returning to UCI - the debate is between the skillset and the body of
knowledge, which has most importance?
