The College for Creative Studies Detroit one of the worl'd leading product and transport design schools will hold a three week Summer School Studio in London from 6 to 25 July 2003.
The school will be held in parallel with their regular graphics program in the Netherlands.
The theme will explore the future of product design, national and global culture.
We will have some leading European product designers doing presentations and tutorials. Ron Arad from the Royal College of Art and Dick Powell have expressed interest in being involved and we are in discussion with a number of other leading designers from companies including Jaguar Aston Martin and Nokia.
Accommodation will be at Imperial College in Kensington.
The School will include visits to a number of leading London design studios and sites of interest to designers including the New Tate and the Design Museum.
We plan a 3 day excursion to France and the Netherlands to visit some interesting design sites and interact with the graphics group.
We estimate the cost of tuition and accommodation excluding airfare to be $3300 US.
The numbers of available places are limited to around 10 to fifteen students, including some working designers and will be based on review of 10 examples of design work.
Details are still being finalized but if you are a student or a working designer and are interested please contact me and we will send a kit of information when available. Promotional posters will be printed and can be sent to your design school or studio.
