PROFESSORSHIP
PHYSICS/LIFE SCIENCES INTERFACE
Applications are invited for a newly established Chair based in the Atomic,
Molecular, Optical and Positron (AMOP) Physics group, which is part of
UCL's Department of Physics and Astronomy. The Department also has major
research groups in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Atmospheric Physics,
Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, Elementary Particle Physics, and
Image Processing, with strong intergroup links.
The Department has been awarded significant funds to construct new
laboratories for the AMOP group in conjunction with the relocation into the
Department of the UCL Centre for Mathematics and Physics in the Life
Sciences and Experimental Biology (CoMPLEX), an interdisciplinary centre
where biologists and physical scientists work on problems of common
interest. The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role
in this development and have the ability to lead a major research group.
Applicants will have made significant contributions at the forefront of
international research bridging the activities of AMOP and CoMPLEX and have
clear potential for further achievements. Duties will include normal
undergraduate teaching and supervision of postgraduate students. Salary is
