Hi Tony,
Combe Martin. This is a training surface dig exploring a possible horse whim
and stables on a working platform adjacent to a silver/lead shaft, the
origins and initial date of sinking being unknown. The early 19th century
miners obliterated all visible trace of earlier workings.
Part of the exploration will be to excavate through the 19th century spoil
heap in an attempt to discover earlier waste and artefacts.
Kindest regards,
Trevor.
