Research Studentships in Media Studies
Applications are invited for three research studentships in Media Studies.
Research proposals should fall within the following areas:
1. The history of early cinema in Ireland, particularly in the North
(including the reception of films, cinema-going and cinema audiences, public
policy and film, and the relationship of film to other social and cultural
activities);
2. Public policy and archival practice towards film, television, photography
and radio in Britain and Ireland;
3. The creative and educational use of the digital technologies in relation
to film, photography and sound.
Candidates should hold, or expect to hold by 31 August 2003, a first or
upper second class honours degree in Media Studies or a cognate area.
Successful candidates will enrol as of 1 October 2003, on a full-time
programme of research studies leading to the award of the degree of Doctor
of Philosophy.
The studentship will consist of fees and an annual stipend of £12,000. The
studentship will be awarded for a period of up to three years subject to
satisfactory progress.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 29 August 2003.
