APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
Government librarians - a model for the future of the profession?
Date: Tuesday 11 March 2003
Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: The Sekforde Arms, Sekforde Street, London EC1
Speaker: Suzanne Burge, Information Manager, Ombudsman's Office
Librarians in government are increasingly moving out of
traditional roles into knowledge management, websites and
intranets, using their skills to work alongside other
professionals and transform the profession's image - and unlike so
many others in the workplace library world they can spread the
news.
Suzanne Burge is Information Manager at the Ombudsman's Office,
running its Library and Information Service, intranet and website.
Her working career has been spent in a variety of government
libraries. She has been an active member of the Government
Libraries Group since its inauguration, and is currently its
Chair. She chaired the LA Special Libraries Committee throughout
its existence and was a member of the Shadow Board for CILIP,
having been involved in the unification process since the first
meeting. She is now a CILIP councillor and a member of the
Workplace and Information Services Panel.
LHCB evening meetings are free and open to all with a professional
interest in the topic. They are a follow-up to meetings held by
IIS Southern Branch. Refreshments will be available afterwards. As
space is limited, please let us know if you are coming. Contact
