Apologies for cross-posting.
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Quality Group of the Library & Knowledge Development
Network (formerly the Regional Librarians' Group) Alison Weightman & Jane
Williamson are carrying out a literature search. We are looking for papers
describing surveys and other methods to obtain a measure of the impact, or
value, of library services in terms of health benefits for patients and
members of the public. If you are aware of any published or unpublished
research that you are able to share with us please forward to
[log in to unmask] We will collate the results, along with those
from a recent database search, and post them back to the lists.
Two potential outcomes of this research are: (1) To summarise, for library
staff, the evidence concerning the value of library services as linked to
government health priorities (public health, waiting times, increasing
quality & reducing litigation, etc.); and (2) To develop a user survey for
health care libraries to obtain a measure of the value and impact of the
service in terms of user education and patient care; and to guide
improvements to the service.
With many thanks, Alison and Jane
