Bizzarely, our links to www.springerlink.com work if we route them via our
EZProxy server (which we do, for off-campus access) but not if we go direct
to the site. I can't explain that! Furthermore, links to link.springer.de
work whether or not we go via our EZProxy server.
When I looked at the MetaPress site last week it had a nice admin area
where I downloaded a spreadsheet of URLs for all of the Springer titles,
using the http://springer.metapress.com/link.asp?id=... style. Problem is,
I can't find it on the slicker-looking site as finally released.
Of course, if it was permitted to send attachments to jiscmail lists then
I'd attach it!
To answer Maureen Richardson's query, we prefer to link to publisher's own
sites on the assumption that they are more rapidly updated, for features
like 'articles in press' and additional information about the journal
(users may want to visit the journal site to read the instructions for
authors, for example). Where ATHENS authentication isn't available we use
EZProxy for off-campus access, licence permitting. Before we had EZProxy,
aggregator sites were more attractive to us.
