ACLAIIR AGM: Canning House; 9 July
(Advisory Council on Latin American and Iberian Information Resources)
A reminder that there is still time to register for the annual meeting of
ACLAIIR, which will be held in London at Canning House on Wednesday 9 July.
The event will provide a forum to discuss trends in the provision of
materials in UK libraries relating to Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
2003 is also Canning House's sixtieth anniversary year and there will be an
opportunity to learn more about an institution that has done so much to
promote Hispanic culture in the UK, about its Library and plans for the
future. Authentic Peruvian food and tortilla española will be served at
lunch.
During the afternoon a representative from ProQuest/Chadwyck-Healey will
give a demonstration of their electronic publications relating to Hispanic
Studies. At 18.30 there will be a lecture, organized by Canning House,
given by Nigel Cawthorne and HE Ambassador José Felix Fernández
Estigarribia, Paraguayan Ambassador to Mexico, on the 'History of Paraguay:
Eliza Lynch, the Empress of South America?' Those attending the ACLAIIR
meeting are welcome to attend the lecture free of charge.
