An introductory seminar will be held in Oxford on Monday 6 October aimed at
newcomers to the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM). This will coincide
with a four-day meeting of the CRM Special Interest Group/ISO TC46 SC4 WG9
running from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 October.

The CRM SIG welcomes all those with in interest in information standards and
ontologies for the cultural heritage community. The workshop will explain
the CRM and the ways in which it can be used, as well as introducing the
changes that are taking place in the preparation of the model as an
international standard.

The workshop will be supported by presentations from practitioners making
use of the CRM within their own organisations. There will also be an
opportunity for questions and discussion.

The seminar will take place in the Cartoon Room of the Randolph Hotel.

Attendance is free and tea and coffee will be provided. The hotel is
situated in the centre of Oxford and there are numerous coffee shops,
restaurants, pubs and sandwich bars in the near vicinity.

Travel: Oxford is situated on the M40 motorway, with direct buses every half
hour from Heathrow Airport and every hour from Gatwick Airport. There are
also direct train services from Birmingham International Airport and Central
London. Journey times for all of these are approximately 1 hour (1.5 hours
from Gatwick). Please note that there is no car parking available in the
Hotel, but there are good Park and Ride bus services from the edge of
Oxford.
