At present it seems as if French philosophy is outré, and it is obvious
that your work is admirably specific. Yet I would highly recommend
Gilles Deleuze's Cinema 2: The Time-Image. He speaks directly to
sound-image. After reading this work, my experience of sound in film
and elsewhere has been far richer.
Personally I'm always moved by film-action which directly incorporates
musical sound. A very blunt example would be "se7en" in which Morgan
Freedman's character plays a record in the NYC Public Library which
then fills the halls and subsequently provides the soundtrack.
Hollywood redux, but nonetheless an integration of sound and image in
an obvious sense.
I've mentioned this before, but the film "Testimony", a bioflick about
Shostakovich is worth considering.
