<<<about the existence of
a multiple realism, of a set of different realities.
This should not be the case to invalidate the work of
science, but
has to be seen as a possible point of departure of a
new thinking
concerning with human beings and their cultures and
products>>>
And:
<<what we take to be real and ultimate is
a product of institutions and technologies>>
These remarks highlight one of my main points. Gnostic
philosophy - to which the Matrix refers - is not
culturally specific or culturally defined. A human
being is a human being, whether neanderthal, Chinese,
medieval, capitalist, communist, american-indian,
kalahari...
Metaphysics concerns the human condition. You're born,
you live, everyone dies. When viewed in this way, the
cultural circumstances are not relevant.
Since when has Film/Cultural Studies been metaphsical?
