Other than the genre of global disaster films, would films about the brotherhood and equality of men come under such a category? I was thinking of the films of Krzystof Kielsowski, who directs films as an exile from his own homeland, Poland under the former Soviet bloc, and "Trois Couleurs" especially "Rouge" which deals with the common brotherhood of men amidst disaster and suffering in its ending sequence, and also "La Double Vie de Veronique" would be quite good fits with your idea of films with a global vision. Better still, try his "Decalogue".
