Antonia Bird directed it; it was a 1994 release, starring Linus Roache, Tom
Wilkinson, Robert Carlyle and Cathy Tyson. But the priest was gay, not a
pedophile. His big moral dilemma occurs when a girl confesses to him that
her father is sexually abusing her.
It was more controversial than good.
You may be thinking of a Canadian mini-series directed by John N. Smith
(Dangerous Minds) called The Boys of St. Vincent, a true story about boys
being sexually abused by priests in an orphanage. Henry Czerny is the only
name I recognize from that cast list.

have the right to hope if we are struggling."

a priest who has to come to terms with his homosexuality and probably
pedophilia as well? I cannot exactly remember the movie, since I knew about
it from the reviews, but someone else would be able to give you more data on
the movie, such as the director, lead actors and such.
