In response to a previous point about the accents in Billy Elliot
being inauthentic, I watched Anita and me with a few friends the other night
and the post film discussion centred around the authenticity of the black
country accents which on reflection seemed to miss the point. But is this a
problem with british film that it is too regionally and socially specific to
deal with 'universal' themes? In response to Richard's query about watching
other brit films, yes I like Shane Meadows and saw Once upon a Time in the
Midlands on its release last year - the Nottingham accents were terrible!
