I haven't seen any Cassavetes or American New Wave films recently enough to
recommend titles to you, but where the French New Wave/Godard is concerned,
'Masculin feminin' would also be essential viewing. As would the several
shorts Godard made before 'A bout de souffle' was released, 'Une histoire
d'eau' (with Truffaut), 'Charlotte et son Jules' and 'Tous les garcons
s'appellent Patrick'. Useful for representation of women of the time, also
rich sources of Godard's complexes about gender relations...
