Again, like several of the other replies, this doesn't specifically
address *cinema*, but it's theory: Henri Bergson is a name I associate
with 'time'.
I don't know enough about Bergson to recommend a particular text, but a
quick google gave me this:

It *is* specifically cinematic, and it might give you the lead you're
