If you can locate it, you may find Chris Marker's THE OWL'S LEGACY to be
illuminating. It is a pretty incredible series that sets out, in a
typically broad CM sweep, to examine Greek thought ancient through modern
and its influence on the world. Although it is not exactly about Greek
Cinema, it does have interviews with Theo Angelopoulos and Elia Kazan (whose
remarks are strangely illluminating: child of Greek immigrants who remember
the traumas of their country's modern history--but are also very ironic
given his own, uh, legacy). I recall Argos produced a French documentary on
Kazan at give or take the same time it produced Sans Soleil, so maybe this
was how Marker came to meet Kazan. Or maybe not.
