Hey everyone,
i just joined this mailing list, and have already enjoyed reading the many postings so far.
I am currently a senior film studies major at Columbia University, and am in the process of
writing my senior essay/thesis. it's due Feb 2 in its final form (ahh!) but i was wondering if
anyone had any info for finding some more resources than i already have.
My proposal involves exploring the idea of the "hollywood star system" through Lynch's
GREAT film. I love the film and really just saw so much to explore in it, so decided to use it
for my thesis. i have debated also adding some aspects of Run Lola Run into this as well, but
that's for another posting. Hah ;).
So my idea really focuses on how the film uses multiple points-of-view, angle, etc to show
the mutiple spectator vs. star dichotomies set up throughout the film (think of the scene on
the set of the Sylvia North Story towards the end of the film where Diane Selwin is forced to
watch Camilla and Adam act out the car scene).
If anyone has anything they want to add/thoughts/comments/rebuttals etc, they are more
than welcome.
Thanks so much and hope to hear from some of you VERY SOON (i have to turn in my rough
draft in about 2 days...)
Mara
