I think the shot you refer to is supposed to be a
flashback to before the wedding massacre and so before
Uma became the angel of death revenger. This explains
her softer manner.
I thought the film was easily devided into two parts.
And from what I've read Tarantino wasquite
enthusiastic about this way out. He has gone on record
saying the last thing he wanted was a three hour
martial arts movie as this would go against the
generic pulpiness. Two installments link perfectly
with both the comic books and tv serials that were
partly his inspiration. Despite all this as a film I
felt a bit cheated ultimately. Tarantino is beginning
to remind me of george orwell's caracterisation of
Rudyard Kipling as a good bad poet.
