Well it is true that the last US war movies are much better than those
of the previous two decades (those from hollywod), which can really
be seen as trivial propaganda, where super marines (like Rambo) are
able to destroy enemy helicopters only with one hand ...
anyway it seems to me that although the last movies recognise the
horror of war and give the soldier a more human aspect and
above all a psychological life which doesn't appear in the movies above
quoted,
it would be difficult for any US director to make honest movies dealing
with war
until US policy is so strongly depending on the need to justify any war
(it makes),
anyway it seems that last movies are more realistic than before ...
I would like to put a question:
Do you think US directors willing to make movies on war
are free to express any opinion?

prodigious achievement. Easily the best war film I've ever seen. There,
