If it's all right for a lurker (except for slow pitches like questions about
movies with woody allen and a patch of skin) to post here, I'm inviting
anyone on this list to come to tomorrow's and Friday's press screenings of
the New York Video Festival at Lincoln Center, courtesy of Graham Leggat, a
curator and press contact for the Lincoln Center Film Society.
The press screenings start at 10 AM, and are at the Walter Reade Theater,
165 W. 65th Street, next to Juilliard. Tomorrow's programs are Program 5 -
Mirror Conspiracies, with works by Anthony Goicolea, Shannon Plumb and Chris
Larsen and Program 4, Strangers in a Strange Land, with five works about
people living outside their homelands, by Miriam Ghani,
Ashraf Meer, Paul Forrer, Tran T. Kim Trang. and Jussara Figueredo.
Friday at 10 AM, Program 10, is my digital video feature, Pretend, where
the divided frame is an integral part of the narrative structure of the
picture. It's followed by Program 13, with Yvonne Rainier's first video
installation, called "After Many A Summer Dies A Swan," and an hour piece by
Vanessa Beecroft, "VB51," her first performance documented on video.
You can let me know offlist if you'd like to come to any of these and I'll
give your RSVPs to Graham.
You can find out more about the programs and the festival schedule, July
23-27, at filmlinc.org.
