Hey,
I think this is a very interesting topic. Godard seems to offer a very
critical gaze when it comes to the women in his films in relation to pop
culture. I would suggest Masculine,Feminin for Godard and Shadows for
Cassavetes.
In the Godard film there is a really funny scene of some of the kids in
a dance club - dancing. Its just really funny to see these french kids
dance completely out of rhythm with the music. Also, the main female
character in that film is a pop singer and there are some interesting
scenes of her in the studio. I love the way Godard plays with the sound.
Also there are some interesting interviews that may be of interest to
you.
Cleo from 5 to 7 is an excellent film.
Please let me know what you think!
James
