I think a great film for this sort of discussion, as well as for the
ethics/existential discussion, is Dark City. It has the "journey" as a
structural component, but ties journey simultaneously to the possibility
of revelation and to realization of transcendence. Great stuff, and it
has a boat scene, so it's kind of like the Odyssey.
