Re. the Weddle article:
Surely the most worrying thing is that, according to the version of events
related in the Weddle's article, is that the daughter, in the final year of
the course, didn't understand the exam paper. One wonders what she been
doing during the course? Presumably a course outline and a course reading
list exists ... she knew what ground was being covered. What had she read?
(not just the day before the exam, but over the duration of the film theory
course?) The article is silent on this issue.
The article is also silent on the daughter's final grade: given she didn't
understand the exam paper, a 'C' is pretty good. Perhaps standards are lax
at that college, and the paper has been marked too high ... but Weddle
doesn't demand the paper should be re-graded in the interests of fairness
and academic rigour.
