It isn't. But the point is, it doesn't gain you
intellectual credibility if you investigate those kind
of ideas, because they're not currently fashionable.
And since The Matrix was largely based on them - and
other similar ideas - it follows that it didn't and
probably never will be regarded as notable.
Does that mean the philosophy of The Matrix is cheap
film making? I don't think so. All it means is, no one
is particularly interested. Like I said, since when
has Film/Cultural Studies been metaphysical, in the
sense in which Gnosticism is?
